Well yall gotta know about Gym Class Heroes! If you don't...you are missing out. They are a band from Geneva, New York. They have a hip-hop vibe, but they aren't afraid to rock out either. I learned that from their AHH!mazing performance at Warped Tour in Chicago when they busted out with some HxC shizz. With the lead singer, Travis McCoy's, skills on the mic, you really can't go wrong. There's sort of a fuck you attitude...along with a sense of humor. So far, Gym Class Heroes have released three albums along with two EPs (The Papercut, Patches from the Quilt). Their newest album, The Quilt, will be released on September 9th, 2008...but I had the pleasure of getting a preview of the entire album for free on MTV The Leak. On the album, there are definitely some interesting collabos...The Dream....Estelle...Busta Rhymes....Lil Wayne...(shudder)....Cool & Dre....Hall & Oates. As I was listening to the album, I realized a lot of the songs were definitely a bit slower than what I'm used to hearing from them. Blinded By the Sun, which had a kool raggae feel to it...along with Peace Sign/Index Down...Cookie Jar...Don't Tell Me It's Over....those were some of the songs that stood out to me the most. Overall, the album was pretty deecz. I don't think it was better than As Cruel as School Children...BUT it wasn't a bad album. I think the songs on the last album were more catchy, but hey, you can go chika chika check it out yourselves...right here:
